Ashley Valarie Nicole Dolson is a Licensed Esthetician, Cosmetic Formalist and retired Massage Therapist. Having struggled with eczema and sensitive skin from a young age, Ashley was driven to create products with simple, effective ingredients tailored for melanin-rich, and sensitive skin. Her journey began with handcrafting “Dylan’s Body Butters to address her god daughter’s dry hair and skin as well as “Good Juju” hair oils and “Mama’s Remedy” Body butter for her son’s hair loss caused by eczema in his scalp to soothe his irritated skin that was sensitive to shea butter. These custom formulations crafted with love and pure intentions ultimately lead to the launch of Melanin Skyn Co. in 2020. Melanin Skyn  products are formulated with non-comedogenic, moisturizing, hydrating and gentle ingredients that support improving the appearance of sensitive skin. Beyond skincare, Ashley is passionate about uplifting others, particularly young individuals navigating self-acceptance. She created the I Love Melanin: Loving My Melanin Begins with Me workshops to educate youth on embracing their natural beauty and choosing the right skincare. These workshops focus on self -love through the form of self-care and DIYskincare products. Through her work, she strives to close the gap in the beauty industry by advocating for more inclusive and effective skincare solutions for melanin-rich skin.
